ATASC Wishes Happy Holidays and a Joyous New Year!

It has been an active year for ATASC and ATASC Chapters. We had more community events than previous years with more attendance. As major ATASC events, we held our first in a long time Children’s Day Picnic (23 Nisan Cocuk Bayram). We had a speaker from Turkey, Nuri Kurtcebe to commemorate Ataturk’s Life and Independence War in November in addition to the traditional Republic Day Ball in October. We had four schools operating from San Diego to Ventura.

We started a grassroots campaign -with a grant from ATAA – to be more proactive in the public relations area, focused on elected officials. Throughout the year, ATASC grassroots coordinator with 45 ATASC volunteers visited many  elected officials to introduce Turkish Americans and acquaint them with our issues. We reaped the benefits of this activity when quite a lot of our community quickly responded to the last week’s HR252 threat.

We hope to continue our community events in 2011 with your generous support and wish the Turkish American community of Southern California a great 2011.

Best Regards, ATASC Board
