ATASC local chapters (VATAN, LATAA, OCTAA and ATASC-SD) each prepared a gathering of locals for Kurban Bayram either Saturday (11/5/2011) or Sunday (11/6/2011) this weekend. Please check individual chapter websites or facebook sites for details.

ATASC and OCTAA are preparing 10 Kasim Ataturk Commemoration Day in Chapman College in Orange 7-9 pm. ATAA President Ergun Kirlikovali will present a celebration of his life and achievements. We hope you will join us to commemorate the incredible vision, life and legacy of Ataturk.

Kurban Bayram means sharing wit h those that are not as fortunate as we are. ATASC is currently collecting funds for those that need our help.

  1. To educate needy girls in Turkey: We are collecting funds for Cagdas Yasam Destek Dernegi (CYDD). Our goal is to give scholarships to six needy and bright girls this year. Contact Naime Berkoz or Sevda Aleckson for details.
  2. To help out the victims of Van earthquake: we are collecting funds for Kizilay (Red Crescent), an organization already on the ground helping survivors with basic needs. Contact Burcu Tansu or Hulya Kosal if you have any questions
  3. To help out the families of martyrs who died due to PKK terror, we are collecting funds for Mehmetcik Foundation who helps out the families of the victims or the wounded. They educate the orphans left behind. Contact Burcu Tansu or Hulya Kosal for any questions.
