By now, you should all have received ATASC Republic Day Ball invitations in the e-mail, so I wanted to take a few minutes of your time and emphasize how important it is for us to get together and celebrate the 85th Anniversary of the Turkish Republics this year. Our country is going through very sensitive times with multiple issues in the political arena – under this pressure, it’s extremely important for us to embrace a democratic and secular Turkish Republic and show that we will always be there for our country. As Mustafa Kemal Atatürk founded the Turkish Republic after a long war for independence and created this new nation with his reforms, it’s now our duty to show that we will carry on his vision and principles for the continuity of modern Turkey. For this reason, ATASC invites you to unite on October 25th and be the voice of Turkey in State of California, so please come and celebrate this noble occasion with us. As space is limited, RSVP is mandatory for this event, so please mail in your cards at your earliest convenience or buy ticket online.

We are the owners of Turkish Republic and of the ideas planted by our leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, so the day should be ours filled with joy and pride – looking forward to celebrating will all of you!

"Nations, which are accustomed to look for the ways of living in comfort without hard work, without learning and without getting tired are doomed to initially loose their dignity, then their freedom and their future"
Mustafa Kemal Ataturk

ATASC SCHOOL IN IZMIT, TURKEY
ARSLANBEY ATA-SC ILKÖĞRETIM OKULU

On August 17, 1999, western Turkey was struck by a devastating magnitude-7.4 earthquake. Many thousands of people were killed, and many more made homeless by the quake that was centered near Izmit.

Contributing to the rebuilding process, ATASC initiated an effort in February 2003 to build a new school for the children of Izmit. Phase One of the project, construction of the building exterior, was completed in May 2003. The Izmit municipality joined the effort by providing electricity, heating, water, sewage and landscaping to the school site.

The school admitted its first class on September 13, 2004.
